  • Student accommodations for online testing should be set in TIDE a minimum of three days prior to testing. Accommodations and tools that require state approval (i.e. print-on-demand, read-aloud passages) should be set by February 1, 2019.   • Secure Browser Support

    Support for 2017-2018 secure browsers will end on December 31, 2018. All users should work with their technology coordinators to ensure they have the latest version available on the South Dakota portal.

    For schools using Macs desktops with secure browser 10.4 should also upgrade to the 10.6 version. Support for the secure browser 10.4 will also end on December 31, 2018. If schools upgrade to the 10.6 Mac Browser before December 31, student testing on interims are currently supported.

  • Interim Test Scoring Materials

    Interim Test Scoring Materials are now available for download in TIDE and AIRWays.

    To download hand-scoring resources from TIDE, navigate to the General Resources drop-down list in the banner and select Interim “Test Scoring Materials”. The Interim Test Scoring Materials page will appears with download links for the required resource. (Note: This feature is available for all roles except Test Administrators.)

    To download hand-scoring resources from AIRWays, Click the stack of books button in the upper-left corner of the report table. A pop-up window opens, displaying links to the available resources.

  • Secure Browser Support

    For the 2018-19 school year, student computers and devices should have the most current Secure Browser installed prior to testing.




    Secure Browser 10.4 or Take-A-Test (optional for Windows 10)


    Secure Browser 5.0

    Secure Browsers from 2017-18 School Year support will end on December 31, 2018. Technology Coordinators are advised to complete their upgrades prior to that date.

  • Student Testing on Windows 10

    Schools using Windows 10 for student testing should ensure they have the AIR Secure Browser 10.4 or use Microsoft's native Take-a-Test app. If your school is still using the 2017-18 Secure Browser, please uprgrade prior to testing. Refer to the Secure Browsers page for more detail.

  • TIDE Student Setting Upload Feature

    The Student Setting upload feature is currently unavailable. AIR is currently working to resolve this issue. As a workaround, student settings can currently be updated for individual students on the View/Edit/Export student page or searching by SSID. Check the portal for more details.

  • TIDE Student Nightly File Updates

    The SDDOE is working to resolve server issues which impacts their ability to send updated student nightly files to TIDE. The student files were last updated in TIDE on Thursday, September 20. Please continue to update student records in CAMPUS and your other student information systems. Once a current file is sent to TIDE, all updates or deletions will be processed. Check the portal for more details.

  • 2018–19 Roster Preparation

    Update 8/8: School Coordinators who had previously created roster upload files may begin uploading them into TIDE or creating rosters through the User Interface (UI). Note: Creating a roster upload file is optional. Coordinators may still have to make changes to reflect administration or as school enrollment changes.

  • 2018–19 Student Data Upload to TIDE

    TIDE will be online for the 2018-2019 school year beginning on August 6th. However, new student data will not be available until after August 6th. Until student data is uploaded, users should not make edits to student accounts or settings. AIR and SDDOE will make an announcement when the data is available in TIDE. Update 8/8: The student data for 2018-19 from Infinite Campus is now rolling into TIDE. You may start updating accommodations or creating rosters. Please note that changes updated in Infinite Campus may take up to 48 hours to appear in TIDE.

  • Practice Test:

    AIR is currently aware of a login error that occurs when trying to access the practice test as a student as a guest or with a student SSID. We are actively working to resolve the issue. Please check the portal for updates.

    Update 8/2/18: This issue is now resolved. Students can resume access to the practice test either as a guest or with their SSID.

  • 2018–19 Secure Browsers

    The mobile Secure Browser for use with iOs and Android devices is now available for download from the Apple App Stores and Play Store. Desktop Secure Browsers for use with Mac and Windows computers will be available soon.

    Note: A secure browser must be installed on each device in order to take the summative and interim assessments.

  • Downtime:

    In preparation for the 2018-19 administration, TIDE will be offline from July 29 to August 5, 2018. ORS downtime will start on July 26, 2018. We recommend schools download all ISRs and data files prior to the ORS downtime. During this period, AIRWays Reports and Practice Test will be offline August 4–5. For the complete schedule, see the Important Dates page.

  • System Migration Downtime:

  • The Online Reporting System (ORS) is now displaying the 2017-2018 Summative Math and ELA scores on a rolling basis.

  • iPad iOS 11.2 support

    Due to potential intel processor security concerns, we recommend you upgrade your iPads for online testing from iOS 11.2 to iOS 11.2.5. iPads running iOS 9.3 or iOS 10.3 are not affected.

  • Rosters: Attention School Coordinators and Teachers 

    School Coordinators must create rosters for teachers and their students each academic year. This step must be completed first for teachers to view Interim or Summative data in the Online Reporting System (ORS). Teachers should also confirm with your School Coordinators that the rosters are correct prior to reviewing student scores. Once rosters have been created, teachers can view student scores in ORS from the current and previous administrations or modify the rosters as necessary. For a brief tutorials, refer to the Adding Roster and Viewing and Editing Roster videos.

  • Chrome Secure Browser Update

    AIR has released an updated Chrome Secure Browser app to the App store. This update is required. Please allow time to complete the necessary updates prior to scheduling testing.

  • Interim TDS Downtime

    In preparation for the Summative test window, the TDS TA Interface and Student testing site will be offline starting March 2 at 6pm CT through March 6 at 8pm CT. During this time, Interim Testing will be unavailable. The practice tests and Interim Teacher Handscoring System (THSS) will be accessible for use. The online, Summative test window for Math and ELA grades 3-8 and 11 officially opens on March 7, 2018.

  • In an effort to streamline the system maintenance, AIR will be taking online systems offline once per month. This will allow AIR to systematically roll out updates. Urgent updates and updates that won’t cause disruption to live systems may still occur outside of the maintenance window. The scheduled maintenance window for January will be Friday, February 23 at 10:59 pm CT until Sunday, February 26 at 10 pm CT. Users can resume accessing all active, online systems on Monday, February 27. Please refer to the Important Dates section of the portal for specific information for the future dates.

  • Secure Browser Verification

    Schools participating in online testing should confirm they have the correct Secure Browser installed prior to the Summative test window opening.

    • Secure Browser 10.0: Windows OS, Mac 10.12 or below
    • Secure Browser 10.2: Mac 10.13
    • Secure Browser 10.1: Linux
    • Mobile Secure Browsers for iOS, Chrome, Android: currently available in the app store.

    Note: AIR released an optional update to the Chrome secure browser is mid-February which is not required to use for Summative testing, but will be supported, if your school does upgrade the Chrome Browser.

  • Julie Voicepack

    The Julie Voicepack is an optional windows-only resource available for students who use Text-to-Speech while testing with the secure browser. If your students prefer the Julie voice pack, it is recommended that they are given opportunities using the practice test (in secure mode) or the interim test prior to using it for the summative test window. For more details, refer to the Voice Pack Installation guide available on the portal.

  • Mac OS 10.13 Secure Browser Support

    AIR has released the Secure Browser 10.2 for Mac OS 10.13. Check the Secure Browser page for details.

    Note: Schools using Mac 0S 10.12 or below will not need to install the new Secure Browser. You will receive an Unsupported Browser/OS error if you try to access the Student Testing site if you do so.

  • Summative Testing Grades and TAM:

    The summative tests only apply to students in grades 3-8 and 11 for both online and paper. The paper Test Administration Manual references grades 9 and 10, but does not apply to South Dakota students. For more details, the Online TAM and Paper TAM are now available as downloadable resources on the portal.

  • Interim Teacher Handscoring System (THSS)

    The Interim Teacher Handscoring System (THSS) issue reported on Friday, January 19, is now resolved. The system is functioning as normal.

  • In order to comply with Smarter Balanced security procedures, the Interim ICA and IAB answer keys are available for download after accessing the General Resources > Download THSS Materials section of TIDE. For more detailed information, refer to the TIDE or THSS category of the FAQs page. As a reminder, these materials should not be posted or distributed to teachers or others not involved in scoring the Interim ICA or IAB Assessments.

  • Due to operating system updates, AIR will delay deploying Secure Browser 10. We will support interim and practice tests using Secure Browser 9 through the end of the calendar year as we release version 10 on a staggered schedule. Schools with Secure Browser 9 will not be required to install the Secure Browser 10 until the cutover.

  • Update on iPad iOS11.1 support for Student Testing Student testing is now supported for iPad iOS 11.1. Student testing on iPad 11.0 is now blocked. For schools with iPad 11.0, please upgrade your operating system to iPad 11.1 prior to testing.

  • Update on Mac OS 10.13 for Student Testing

    AIR is still testing and resolving issues for Mac OS10.13. For schools using Mac desktops, AIR recommends that schools avoid using computers with the latest Mac OS for secure testing.
